Sergio: Nothing but respect for Harrington after 'great' chat at McIlroy's wedding

Garcia and Harrington kissed and made up at Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll’s wedding last month.

SERGIO GARCIA HAS closed the book on his long-running rivalry with Pádraig Harrington and insisted that they both respect either other despite their differences.

Garcia and Harrington have long been seen as enemies on and off the course, dating back to their Major tussles in 2007 and 2008.

The rivalry was referenced on a few occasions last month when Harrington was working as a Sky Sports pundit at the Masters, which Garcia won in an unforgettable Sunday finish.

But the pair appeared to put the past behind them at Rory McIlroy’s wedding and settled any lingering tension.

Garcia said that their Ashford Castle conversation was “great,” and that others have made more of their disagreements than they ever did.

“I think at the end of the day, we both respect each other,” the Spaniard said on Wednesday ahead of The Players Championship.

“I mean, we’ve had our differences here and there, but you know, we’ve had great talks at the Ryder Cup and also at Rory’s wedding. He was trying to apologise for something he said on Sunday, and I was like, it’s fine. It doesn’t matter.

“It doesn’t bother me at all. I respect you. You respect me. We’re fine.

There’s nothing wrong with us. At the end of the day, I think that’s the most important thing.

“He’s a nice guy, I think I’m a nice guy, and we can all get along fine.”
