Newborn baby girl taken from her home after a shooting found dead in a bin

The body of the 3-week-old girl was discovered behind a row of shops.

Updated 7.50am

A NEWBORN BABY who was abducted from a house after her parents were shot has been found dead in a bin.

The three-week-old infant named Eliza Delacruz is believed to have been taken by the person who carried out the shooting at the house in California.

Her body was discovered in a dumpster in San Diego behind a row of shops in the early hours of this morning.

Police in Long Beach said the local coroner’s office had identified the child. There was no immediate word on the cause of death.

Authorities said that police went to the home on Saturday at 5.50pm (1.50am on Sunday GMT) after reports of a shooting. Three people – including the parents of the child – were found with gunshot wounds.

All three were brought to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries. One has since been released.

Police have said they are seeking a man in connection with the shooting. A spokesperson said his motive is unknown but it not believed to have been a random act.
