Poll: Should childhood vaccines be mandatory?

California is the latest state in the US to move towards making it mandatory.

CALIFORNIA HAS BECOME the latest state in the US to move towards the mandatory vaccination of schoolchildren.

A bill approved on Thursday would see exemptions for vaccination only for medical reasons and would end exemptions for personal or religious reasons, which are routinely requested by parents opposed to vaccines.

The New York Times reports the legislation would make California the largest state with such requirements, with public health officials hopeful other states will follow California’s lead.
