SINN FEIN ARE meeting today in Dublin to consider the recommendation made following the Haass talks on parades flags and the past.

The all-party negotiations, chaired by former US diplomat Richard Haass, took place over Christmas, and ceased on Christmas Eve when no agreement could be made.

However, he later returned after Christmas to attempt to hammer out a deal, but the negotiations ended on New Year’s Eve without agreement.

Yesterday, the Minister of Northern Ireland, Martin McGuinness, says that he is not interested in “playing the blame game” over the breakdown of the Haass talks and said the responsibility for the breakdown in talks lay at the door of the unionist and Alliance parties.

He said that it was time for the North’s parties to compromise.

The Sinn Féin Ard Comhairle are meeting this afternoon in the capital to discuss the proposals. Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams will be in attendance.
