More than one whistleblower came forward with Siteserv information

The plot thickens…

THE POLITICAL WORLD has been dominated by the sale of Siteserv in recent days, with many opposition TDs calling for an independent inquiry into the transaction.

It was sold by the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC) to Millington, a company owned by businessman Denis O’Brien, for €45 million in March 2012.

As part of the transaction, the State wrote off €105 million of Siteserv’s debt, while shareholders in the company benefitted to the tune of €5 million.

Independent TD Catherine Murphy received a number of heavily-redacted documents into the sale through Freedom of Information requests.

Speaking in the Dáil on Tuesday, Murphy said a whistleblower told her that Millington was not even considered in the first round of bids for Siteserv.

Here Murphy tells us that more than one whistleblower has contacted her about the sale, and explains what she did with the information they gave her:

Yesterday, Kenny said the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) will examine whether the Siteserv sale represented value for money for the taxpayer.

Finance Minister Michael Noonan and Alan Dukes, the former IBRC chairman, have both said the Millington deal was the best option for the State.
