Spring is Here

Careful on the roads... Met Éireann has issued a snow-ice warning for the country

There are more snow showers to come tomorrow.

A NATIONAL SNOW-ice warning remains in place this evening, with downfalls expected until tomorrow afternoon.

Met Éireann said accumulations are most likely in parts of the west and north of the country.

Looking ahead – despite the fact that spring officially begins today (at least, according to some people) – we’ll have to endure a fair few wintry showers in the days and nights to come.

It will be a “very cold” night according to Met Éireann, with occasional hail, sleet and snow showers in western and northern counties, and some accumulations likely.

The sleet and snow showers will be more scattered elsewhere, and we’ll have some frost and ice patches by morning.

While tomorrow will be mostly dry in some parts of the east and the Midlands – heavy rain, hail, sleet and snow showers will spread from the west in the afternoon.

There’ll also be isolated thunder storms.

We’ll have similar conditions on Monday night. On Tuesday, we’ll have “fairly widespread wintry showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow” in a gale force west/north-west wind.

By mid-week, that wintry weather will die off a little.

And there appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel, heading into the weekend.

Latest indications suggest milder weather and it will be mostly dry and bright with sunny spells especially in southern and eastern areas.

Could it be?…
