AIDAN O’BRIEN’S So You Think made it a perfect 10 when he ran out the comfortable winner of the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot this afternoon.
The Australian-born superstar was odds-on favourite for the race when he was shocked by Rewilding 12 months ago but made no mistake today in the hands of Joseph O’Brien, beating Carlton House (7/2) by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
Godolphin fancy Farhh (6/1) chased home a half-length back in third but the day belonged to Coolmore who watched So You Think, sent off the 4/5 favourite, seal his tenth Group 1 victory.
“We expected a big run today,” O’Brien senior said afterwards, who blamed himself for the horse’s recent dip in form.
I think we’ve had him a year and a half and it’s taken me that long to learn how to train him. We’re just delighted to get him back and all I can say is sorry it took me so long to get him back to where everyone in Australia said he was. If he wasn’t such a great horse I’d have made a right mess of him.
