Sorry seems to be the hardest word as Brolly refuses to retract Cork criticisms

The pundit still thinks Conor Counihan’s men struggle in certain areas of the field.

THE SUNDAY GAME pundit and ex-Derry footballer Joe Brolly is refusing to back down in an argument relating to the ability of the Cork team.

Prior to their win over Down at the weekend, Brolly had labelled Cork a ‘dumb’ side, deriding the manner in which they play the sport and comparing them to a Rugby League team.

Following their latest encounter, Brolly did have some praise for Cork, but still claims they struggle in certain areas of the pitch and suggested that the side’s poor record against Kerry highlights their shortcomings.

He said:

“They are a great side, there is no doubt about that, but the reality is they have failed against Kerry and the issue is, ‘how do they cure that problem?’.”

Tony Davis, who was alongside Brolly on the panel, described his article for GaelicLife.com as “absolute rubbish” and argued that Brolly had unjustifiably portrayed the Cork team as “comical figures”.
