Stunning goal from Christian Eriksen as Jermaine Defoe doubles up

Jonathan de Guzman also wrapped in a fantastic free kick.

JERMAINE DEFOE REMINDED Spurs coach Andre Villas Boas that he is still hungry for goals as he found the net twice in a 3-0 win over Tromso in the Europa League.

The English striker scored two first goals against the Norwegian side to give his side the edge at White Hart Lane. Defoe, who is currently playing second fiddle to Spanish striker Roberto Soldado, broke the deadlock with a crisp drive and ran in behind the defence to slip his second past the advancing Tromso goalkeeper.

Goal of the night came courtesy of Spurs Danish winger Christian Eriksen as he unleashed a superb shot from 23 yards out that left the goalkeeper flailing.

3-0 was also the scoreline at the Mestalla earlier in the evening as Michael Laudrup’s Swansea wiped the Europa League floor with Valencia.

The La Liga side, who relied heavily on Soldado’s goals last season, were reduced to 10 men when Rami was sent off for a professional foul on Wilfred Bony. Bony opened the scoring for the Welsh side on 14 minutes and Michu made it 2-0 after 58 minutes.

The tie was settled four minutes later when Jonathan de Guzman stepped up and dispatched a vicious, dipping free-kick to make it 3-0.

Wigan boss Owen Coyle praised the “outstanding” efforts of his players as the Championship side drew 0-0 away with Zulte-Waregem.
