Gardaí appeal for witnesses to two linked stabbings in Temple Bar

The stabbings occurred within minutes of one another on a busy Saturday evening.

GARDAÍ IN PEARSE Street are appealing for witnesses to two stabbings in Temple Bar on Saturday evening to contact them.

The stabbings, which happened within minutes of one another, are believed to be linked. The first incident occurred at 7.20pm on Fleet Street, near the Abrakebabra restaurant. A man in his 20s was approached by a group of men and attacked. He sustained injuries to his face and side.

He has since undergone surgery and his injuries are not life-threatening.

The second incident occurred just minutes later on Cope Street. A man in his 30s was assaulted and fled from his attackers.

They caught up to him on Anglsea Street and he sustained stab wounds to his abdomen and face. He was taken to St James’ Hospital. It is understood the man is still currently in intensive care.

The people involved in the two incidents are believed to be known to one another.

Gardaí are reviewing vast amounts of CCTV footage from the area. They are also appealing for witnesses to the two incidents, which occurred at a busy time of day in Temple bar, to get in touch. An incident room has been set up in Pearse Street and the station can be contacted on 01 666 9082.
