EX-LIVERPOOL STAR Stan Collymore has compiled a list of tweets containing racist and abusive language used by Twitter users in recent days in a bid to highlight what he says is a serious issue with racism.
It comes after a week in which English football has been mired in two high-profile racism stories.
The tweets compiled by the footballer turned broadcaster are mainly responding to the fining and banning of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez after an FA commission found that he used racially abusive language towards Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
Meanwhile yesterday, the Crown Prosecution Service recommended that Chelsea and England captain John Terry be prosecuted for using racist language towards Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.
The two stories have ignited a fierce debate about racism in football. While Suarez’s ban has been welcomed in some quarters, others have defended the Uruguayan including his own club, who said they were “very surprised and disappointed with the decision” of the FA.
Collymore, who publicly welcomed Suarez’s ban, has compiled a collection of tweets containing highly racist and abusive language aimed at Evra. The former England international said on Twitter today that he is “highlighting a serious issue”.
“Just have one look at my favourites and tell me there isn’t at least something to address. Nobody’s playing any cards,its there to read,” he tweeted this morning.

Collymore, who has publicly spoken about his battle with depression, has also retweeted abusive tweets aimed at him.
Responding he said: ”The lovely comments outstrip the bad 100/1 so thank you to those who do. Not ignoring you,just highlighting a serious issue. x”
