DUBLIN MANAGER JIM Gavin had no complaints about the moment of madness that saw captain Stephen Cluxton sent off against Mayo.
The All-Ireland winning keeper was shown a straight red in the 29th minute for kicking Kevin McLoughlin, leaving the Dubs to play most of the match with 14 men.
Without him, they rallied from five points down late on to snatch a 3-14 to 2-17 draw which keeps both sides in the hunt for a place in the semi-finals.
Cluxton will be suspended for Dublin’s final Division 1 game against Tyrone next week, leaving the inexperienced Sean Currie — who had a mixed performance when he came off the bench – as the most likely deputy.
Gavin refused to haul his veteran keeper over the coals afterwards and admitted “we all make mistakes.”
He said: “It looked like Stephen tripped him.
“[McLoughlin] was in front of the ball but he tripped him and we can’t have any complaints with that.
“I haven’t spoken to the player so I need to see what happens.
“Life is full of mistakes. We all make mistakes in life. The most important thing is to learn from them and to grow from them. That’s the way we’ll approach it.”
