A STUNNING JAN Serfontein try summed up the Blue Bulls’ efforts in Perth this morning, where they thrashed the Western Force 20 – 42.

SP Mareis collected the ball deep in his own 22, slipped, but recovered to set a thrilling attack in motion down the left.

Mareis fed wing Bjorn Basson who got a pass away to Jesse Kriel, he popped it back inside to Arno Botha and the flanker let Serfontein round the move off with a beastly burst for the line.

Down in Waikato, the brilliant Chiefs took just 50 seconds to put a try on the board. But despite Seta Tamanivalu’s early break, the Sharks managed to keep this a tight encounter and ended up bettering the home side’s haul of tries with out-half Garth April jinking in a special score before half-time.

Surprisingly, it was the goal-kicking of Aaron Cruden that swung the 24 – 22 win the Chiefs’ way in the end.
