Sweden squad forced to evacuate hotel before England clash due to false fire alarm

Not the best start to the day for the Swedes.

SWEDEN’S PREPARATIONS FOR this afternoon’s World Cup quarter-final against England have been disrupted by a false fire alarm at the team’s hotel in Samara.

The Sweden squad were forced to leave their five-star Lotte Hotel just after 8am this morning, hours before the Scandinavian side bid to reach their first World Cup semi-final since 1994.

According to hotel management, the fire alarm could have gone off due to someone smoking in their room or the alarm switch being accidentally triggered.

The players were allowed to return to their rooms shortly after, with the quarter-final tie kicking off at 3pm.
