GOOD EVENING

The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock.

Every afternoon, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you need to know by 5 o’clock.

1. #FF LEADERSHIP: Four Fianna Fáil TDs were nominated for the party’s leadership post by the close of nominations this afternoon. By TheJournal.ie‘s count, Micheál Martin is out in front with 24 declared supporters. A secret ballot will be held on Wednesday afternoon.

2. #UNITED IRELAND?: Sinn Féin party leader Gerry Adams, who is running in Louth in the general election, says he expects to see a united Ireland in his lifetime. Adams added that it depended, “of course, on how long I live”.

3. #PALESTINE: Over 1,600 Palestinian documents detailing over a decade of negotiations between Israel and Palestine have been leaked to Al Jazeera. The documents claim that Palestinian peace negotiators were willing to give up control of all but one area of the Palestinian-controlled territory in Jerusalem to Israel in exchange for a fully-recognised Palestinian state.

4. #RUSSIA: At least 24 people have been killed in a suspected suicide bomb attack at one of Moscow’s busiest airports. Security at other airports and train stations is being stepped up as the investigation into the incident gets underway.

5. #LEAVING DUBLIN: Photographer David Monahan’s portraits of Irish emigrants were featured in the Wall Street Journal and on CBS television at the weekend. Monahan’s series of photographs depicts a number of intending Irish emigrants before they left Dublin.
