1. #GE11: After being elected the new leader of Fianna Fáil by his party colleagues today, Micheál Martin said he has already written to Eamon Gilmore and Enda Kenny to arrange two serious debates on election issues. He said he wants a debate at the start and at the end of the election campaign. Martin said this would be the hardest election campaign the party had ever faced.
2. #GERRY ADAMS: Despite denying having applied for a Crown position in exchange for his resignation from Westminster, Gerry Adams has been appointed the new Crown Steward and Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead. HM Treasury says he was appointed, but does not specify if Adams technically applied for the post or not. Under Commons rules, an MP cannot voluntarily resign their seat unless they are hired by the Crown instead.
3. #AER LINGUS: Aer Lingus cancelled 14 scheduled flights today as a result of an ongoing dispute between management and cabin crew represented by the Impact trade union.
4. #SEXISM ROW: Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has taken to the airwaves in an effort to atone for the behaviour that cost his former colleague Andy Gray his high-profile presenting job.
5. #MAD COW: The Ennis One has been granted a temporary reprieve after going on a rampage and injuring four people. The cow escaped from a local mart and slightly injured a garda and three other people. Although it was initially thought the cow would be put down, a Clare mart spokesperson says she is now settling down in a nearby field.
