TAWERA KERR-BARLOW might not be the first choice All Blacks scrum-half at the moment, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t capable of jaw-dropping moments of monumental skill. Kerr-Barlow was in ITM Cup action with Waikatio last week, and while his side were comprehensively thumped 46-17 by Taranaki, the scrum-half executed this gorgeous pass to set up a try (second try in video).
That sort of flair is reminiscent of Kerr-Barlow’s fellow kiwi, “King” Carlos Spencer, who would definitely make the Mount Rushmore of skilful halfbacks.
Kerr-Barlow is a promising talent, but it will be very hard for him to break into the All Blacks XV considering how well Aaron Smith is going. Smith must be one of the top three scrum-halfs around at the moment, and with his lethal sniping ability, it isn’t hard to see why.
