In tweets: Ireland's Olympians enjoy some time off

Badminton player Scott Evans arranged a couple of nights out for the willing members of Team Ireland.

AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS of gruelling training regimes followed by two weeks representing their country at London 2012, Ireland’s Olympians have been deservedly letting their hair down.

Around half of the 66 athletes showed up for Wednesday’s civic reception and from there, many made the short trip to 37 Dawson Street before heading on to nearby Copper Face Jack’s.

Belfast boxer Michael Conlan had the misfortune of losing his iPhone (which sparked a full scale search operation) in the popular Harcourt Street nightclub while, according to witnesses, gymnast Kieran Behan impressed on the dancefloor.

Yesterday, Conlan and Barnes packed the factor 50 for their holiday to “Bundoran”, while many of the team members returned to home.

However, Scott Evans, who seems to have shone in his role as social event organiser, was back out for Round 2 last night – as were Darren O’Neill, Chloe Magee, Brendan Boyce and Natalya Coyle, who took a trip to The Palace Nightclub.
