Thai badminton player attacks his former team-mate on court

Bodin Issara is being investigated after chasing and punching ex-partner Maneepong Jongjit at the Canadian Grand Prix.

THE BADMINTON WORLD Federation (BWF) is investigating a brawl at the Yonex Canada Grand Prix, which resulted in a Thai pair being disqualified.

Bodin Issara and his partner Pakkawat Vilailak were issued black cards, meaning disqualification, in the tournament’s men’s doubles final on Sunday after the former got into a fight with opponent Maneepong Jongjit.

Video footage below shows Bodin chasing his former team-mate Maneepong across the court before punching him.

Maneepong and Nipitphon were awarded the men’s doubles title following their opponents’ disqualification.

The Malaysia-based governing body said the matter would be referred to the disciplinary committee, adding the BWF “has procedures in place to deal with such situations”.
