GOOD EVENING

The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock…

EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you need to know before you walk out the door…

1. #BAILOUT II: Economist David McWilliams has joined the ranks of analysts warning that Ireland will need a second bailout – telling TheJournal.ie that there is “zero chance” of a return to international financial markets in the foreseeable future.

2. #QUINN: Seán Quinn has been declared bankrupt by the High Court in Dublin, just days after his application for bankruptcy was rejected in the North. The businessman is being pursued by Irish banks for millions in personal debt.

3. #DE ROSSA: Labour stalwart Proinsias De Rossa has announced that he will be stepping down as an MEP for Dublin in February. However, the reasons for his resignation remain a mystery.

4. #LIGHT HOUSE: The reopening of the Light House Cinema in Dublin’s Smithfield will be made official tomorrow by arts minister Jimmy Deenihan. TheJournal.ie reported on Friday that the cinema would open its doors during the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

5. #OUCH: The annual St Patrick’s Day parade in Hoboken, New Jersey has been cancelled by the mayor, who said it was “dishonouring” the day after 34 people were arrested last year. Organisers called an alternative idea to hold the parade on a weekday evening “insulting”.
