1 #BREAST IMPLANTS: The Irish Medicines Board has said this evening that a number of women who underwent breast augmentation procedures before 2001 could be affected by defective breast implants. This follows yesterday’s news that new regulations for cosmetic surgery clinics are in the offing.

2. #HUMAN RIGHTS: Iran has expressed concern over human rights violations in Ireland at today’s meeting of the UN Human Rights Council. Yes, the Iranian representative at the council meeting said that his concerns related to frequent occasions of racism, xenophobia and discrimination against Muslims and minorities in Ireland.

3. #MAHON: Only €30 million has been set aside for legal bills for the Mahon Tribunal which are expected to run to €150 million and possibly more, TDs on the Public Accounts Committee have been told. The final report from the longest running tribunal in the history of the State is expected within weeks.

4. #COST OF LIVING: Inflation rose by 0.9 per cent in February, according to new figures out today from the Central Statistics Office.  The rise mean that the cost of living was up by 2.1 per cent when compared to the same month last year. The increase was mainly put down to the rising cost of clothing.

5. #TOILET PAPER: A town in the US state of New Jersey was on the brink of running out of toilet paper but the crisis was averted thanks to the good people at the PETA who donated some spare sheets. Here’s how the story unfolded.
