The Departures Lounge: your daily lunchtime transfer round-up

Find out the latest hot-tempered player Man City have their eyes on, which Premiership winger will go on strike in order to ensure his £9m move goes through.

ARE ARSENAL THE most infuriating team in the Premiership?

Almost as frustrating as the transfer rumours regarding a certain midfielder of theirs is the club’s ongoing attempt to buy a competent defender.

There are reports that Scott Dann is the man Wenger has identified, as Arsenal look to have a truly decent centre-back within their ranks for the first time since the Tony Adams era.

Then again, there are other reports indicating that Wenger will conform to maverick stereotype and simply not sign anyone. Or at least, he’ll fail in his attempts to do so.

19-year-old Ajax midfielder, Christian Eriksen, is the latest target for Man United, as they look to sign someone a tad more exotic than the Darron Gibsons and Darren Fletchers of this world.

Obviously not content with having the likes of Balotelli, Tevez and De Jong in their team, Man City have been linked with another perpetual troublemaker in the form of Daniele De Rossi. Should he sign for City, De Rossi can look forward to plenty of scraps with the likes of Balotelli if this is anything to go by.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has defended his ex-team-mates, Ashley Young and Stewart Downing, over their decision to leave the club. Perhaps Bent was merely trying to avoid pot calling kettle black-type accusations, after he left Sunderland so readily last season.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, one of City’s unusually nice-seeming players, will be forced to leave the club for Bolton, because he is too decent a human being for their taste. Or perhaps he will inexplicably keep begging to stay.

Owen Hargreaves, the bargain basement Cesc Fabregas, may sign for West Brom on a pay-as-you-play deal.

Finally, Wigan’s Charles N’Zogbia will do what any self-respecting modern-day overly-pampered football player would do in his position and go on strike over his club’s inability to grant him a £9m move to Aston Villa.
