The Morning Score: Monday

Boxers on the march, Rory on top and Manchester United wingers on the ground. Here’s what you need to know.

Every morning TheScore.ie brings you the stories you need to be across before your first cup of coffee.

1. #GAA Cork will meet Mayo in the Allianz Football League Division 1 final thanks to a comfortable 2-17 to 1-12 win over Down at Croke Park yesterday.

The game will be part of a double header with Kildare and Tyrone meeting in the Division 2 decider.  James Horan’s side booked their spot in the showdown with the Rebels thanks to an impressive win over Kerry at HQ.

In the hurling Joe Canning made his return in a thrilling draw with Dublin in Tullamore. Catch up with all the hurling action here.

2. #LONDON2012 Ireland’s boxers got their final qualification attempt off to a great start in Turkey last night. Both Joe Ward and David Oliver Joyce took victories on the first day of the AIBA Olympic qualifiers in Trabzon.

3. #PREMIER LEAGUE Manchester United went five points clear of neighbours City with a 4-0 rout of Aston Villa yesterday. Ashley Young’s behaviour is again in the spotlight however as the former Villa winger won a penalty in the first 10 minutes. Alex Ferguson admitted afterwards that Young played for the decision.

4. #GOLF Rory McIlroy wasn’t in action this weekend but he returns to the world rankings this morning because of Luke Donald’s poor showing at the Heritage tournament.

5. #FA CUP Chelsea will face Liverpool in the FA Cup final next month, having hammered Spurs 5-1 in the second semi-final at Wembley yesterday. The game was not without its controversy however with Juan Mata scoring the second goal, though the ball didn’t seem to cross the line. The English FA, meanwhile, say they are on track to make a decision on their next manager towards the end of the season. Will it still be Harry?
