The Morning Score

The Morning Score: Thursday

Paul O’Connell suits up for crunch ERC hearing, Roy Keane goes missing and a GAA boss takes manager of the year award.

EVERY MORNING, TheScore.ie brings you the sport stories you need to know with your morning coffee.

1. #HEARING Paul O’Connell will learn his fate when he faces an independent hearing at ERC headquarters in Dublin today.

O’Connell has been named in Munster’s 28-man group to feature in Saturday’s Heineken Cup away game to the Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium.

The second row may be banned by European chiefs however, because of the red card he picked up last Sunday against the same Welsh opposition in Limerick.

2. #AWARD Liam Sheedy was named Philips Manager of the Year at a Dublin ceremony ceremony.

3. #WALKABOUT Any fears at Ipswich that manager Roy Keane may be about to throw his hat at the job escalated yesterday when the club captain revealed that the players had not seen the Corkman all week.

Skipper David Norris admitted that Keane was absent from a clear-the-air meeting in East Anglia, The Irish Daily Mail reports

4. #TICKETS The GAA will announce a new ticket strategy today. Prices are not expected to rise and the association says that a season ticket will guarantee the option of buying an All-Ireland final pass.

5. #EUROPA LEAGUE Liverpool stayed on the rocky road to Dublin’s final as they drew 0-0 with Dutch side Utrecht.

After Roy Hodgson changed his mind on starting Fernando Torres, the Reds fielded a weakened side in the dead rubber and top the group.

6. #LEGEND AFL club Melbourne wants to stage a special international rules match with Dublin in either Croke Park or Parnell Park  to honour  Jim Stynes.

The Demons president is currently battling cancer.

7. #REVAMP Belfast’s Casement Park will become Ulster GAA’s playing headquarters over the next few years following redevelopment as a 40,000 all-seater stadium.

Funding for the project is all but guaranteed, according to Martin Breheny in the Irish Independent.

8. #CLAIMS The president of Athletics Ireland, Liam Hennessy yesterday rejected allegations that he said he had ‘spoofed and lied’ on his initial appearance when he was called before the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Tourism, Culture, Sport, Community and Gaeltacht Affairs, the Irish Examiner reports.

9. #DEFINITELY MAYBE Former Oasis song-writer Noel Gallagher is confident that Carlos Tevez will stay at Eastlands.

On the day that City play Juventus in the Europa League, Gallagher talks about the club in the Telegraph this morning. He’s never short of a football opinion of course.
