1. #NATIONS CUP According to reports in the Irish Independent, James McCarthy’s involvement in this week’s Carling Nations Cup games is in serious doubt after the FAI confirmed yesterday that they have not been able to make contact with the player since the beginning of May.

Adrian will be in the Aviva Stadium tonight when we’ll have minute-by-minute coverage of Ireland’s game against Northern Ireland.

2. #ROYAL MESS Meath legend Bernard Flynn has spoken out against Seamus McEnaney’s decision to recall 38-year-old Graham Geraghty to the Meath panel.

Speaking to RTE Sport at 7 last night, Flynn said that “the decision to bring Graeme back I could not understand. I basically thought it was ludicrous.”

3. #TRAGEDY Spanish cyclist Xavier Tondo, 32, died tragically yesterday in a freak accident at a ski resort in southern Spain.

Reports suggest that Tondo was crushed by an automatic garage door as he prepared to leave for training.

4. #DIEGO Footballing legend Diego Maradona has told Argentinian television that the whole national squad took banned substances before a World Cup qualifying match in 1994.

Maradona was sent home from the tournament proper in America after failing a drugs test.

5. #RÁS The An Post-Sean Kelly team had their first stage win at this year’s Rás yesterday when Lithuanian sprinter Gediminas Bagdonas won the stage into Kilrush.

New Zealand’s Shane Archbold currently wears the yellow jersey.
