The Morning Score: Tuesday

Here’s everything you need to know this morning — unless you’re a 73-year-old Italian hoping to save your job.

1. #COYBIG Giovanni Trapattoni may face his last stand in Torshavn tonight when the Republic of Ireland try to put their German nightmare to bed against the Faroe Islands.

The under-fire Italian insisted yesterday that he is going nowhere despite reports that he will be sacked — even if the boys in green win tonight’s World Cup qualifier.

Robbie Brady and Marc Wilson make their first competitive international starts while captain Robbie Keane returns up front to partner Jon Walters in a 4-4-2 formation.

2. #HEINEKEN CUP Ronan O’Gara has been ruled out of Munster’s clash against Edinburgh this weekend with a hamstring injury.

The veteran out-half sustained the blow during his side’s 22-17 defeat to Racing Metro at the Stade de France on Saturday.

3. #JOE BROLLY Joe Brolly’s attempt to help a sick friend by donating one of his kidneys has ended unsuccessfully, it emerged last night.

The Belfast Health Trust released a statement confirming that the kidney donated to Shane Finnegan, a fellow coach at St Brigid’s GAA Club, has been removed due to medical complications.

4. #KINGDOM COME The worst kept secret in GAA was confirmed last night with the announcement that trainer Cian O’Neill has joined the Kerry senior football set-up.

The Irish Examiner reports that O’Neill will join former keeper Diarmuid Murphy and Mikey Sheehy as part of manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice’s backroom team.

5. #MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Richard Hughes became only the second jockey in British flat racing history to ride seven winners on a single card when he completed the 10,168/1 feat at Windsor racecourse yesterday.

The champion jockey-in-waiting rode Mama Quilla in the 5.40 to grab his seventh winner of the eight-race meeting.

6. #NFL Peyton Manning masterminded a comeback for the ages as the Denver Broncos came from 24-0 down at the San Diego Chargers to win 35-24 last night. Both sides are now 3-3 after six games.
