The Morning Score: Monday

G-Mac misses out despite course record in Hawaii, Declan Kidney has fresh injury worries while Kenny gets into the swing of things with a referee rant.

1. #UNLUCKY A final round of 62 for Graeme McDowell in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions left him a shot behind Jonathan Byrd and Robert Garrigus, with the former winning the tournament in a play-off.

McDowell was 11 under for the day in Hawaii, signing a flawless card that included six birdies on the outward nine and five more after the turn to see him finish on 23 under par.

Elsewhere, British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen held his nerve in a three-way play-off with England’s Chris Wood and Spain’s Manuel Quiros to clinch the Africa Open.

2. #INJURY Declan Kidney will monitor Geordan Murphy’s fitness ahead of the Six Nations after being stretchered off in Leicester’s win over Northampton on Saturday.

Murphy featured in a 27-16 victory over the Saints which stretched Leicester’s lead at the head of the English Premiership.

3. #REDS Tony McGahan will have until tomorrow lunchtime to officially confirm a replacement for the injured Jerry Flannery ahead of the final two pool matches in the Heineken Cup, starting with this Sunday’s trip to Toulon.

4. #NFL It was an amazing weekend of wildcard gridiron action with plenty of shocks.

Check out the results here - but all you really need to know is that our columnist Steven O’Rourke is currently seasoning a sombrero after his ‘If the Seahawks win, I’ll eat my hat’ claim last week.

5. #BUCKING THE TREND Roscommon have dispelled the theory that expensive outside bosses are required for success after it emerged that the county — who won the Connacht senior and U-21 titles — spent less than €17,000 on managers in 2010, according to John Fallon.

6. #THREAT Packages containing bullets and addressed to Celtic manager Neil Lennon and former Derry City star Niall McGinn were intercepted by staff at the Royal Mail sorting office in Mallusk, County Antrim, last Wednesday.

7. #RETURN OF THE KING Kenny Dalglish made his return to top-flight management yesterday.

The Liverpool legend took charge of the Reds as they were dumped out of the FA Cup by bitter rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Dimitar Berbatov won an early, contentious penalty before Steven Gerrard was sent off for a wild two-footed lunge.

Dalglish wasn’t happy. Watch the incidents here.

8. #FA CUP Elsewhere in the Cup, a Roy Keane-less Ipswich Town were hammered 7-0 at Chelsea while Joe Hart apologised for a blunder that cost Man City a win over Leicester.

9. #SEWER RAT Neil Warnock wasn’t too happy with the always classy El Hadji Diouf over the weekend.

The Senegal striker apparently taunted QPR’s Jamie Mackie after the winger sustained a broken leg in this third-round tie.

Mackie, whose season is over, claimed on his Twitter page : “Proper disappointed that El Hadji Diouf was in my ear while am on the deck with a broken leg saying ‘fuck you and fuck your leg.’” Then Warnock had his say:
