IF EVER ANYTHING deserved a commemorative plaque, it’s surely The Snapper.
After all, the eminently quotable Roddy Doyle novel-turned-film is one of the most beloved stories in Ireland.
This morning that was rectified as Dublin City Council unveiled a plaque outside Dublin’s Rotunda Hospital commemorating it as the “birthplace of The Snapper”.

The plaque was unveiled as part of the Dublin: One City, One Book initiative.
Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown Trilogy is the book choice for April 2015 and there are a number of events taking place in Dublin to coincide with the selection, including a Barrytown-themed literary pub crawl.
