Throw-in: All Ireland Senior Camogie Championship previews

There’s some intriguing ties set for this weekend, including Dublin versus Clare and Cork against Kilkenny.

Saturday July 14th
Dublin v Clare, Aiden O Brien, Parnell Park, 1:00

Both sides are searching for their first points of this year’s championship, with Clare unfortunate against Cork and Galway in previous rounds. Clare McMahon and Fiona Lafferty hit 0-10 between them in last week’s tie and Dublin will need to curb their influence.

Verdict: Clare

Cork v Kilkenny, Karl O Brien, Ballincollig, 1:30

An opportunity for Cork to top Group A provided other results fall in their favour. Paudie Murray’s charges hit 5-20 against Offaly in round three with Katrina Mackey giving an exhibition of score-taking. Kilkenny will need to pick themselves up after losing in dramatic fashion to Tipperary last weekend, and with plenty of history between both sides, a cracker is in store.

Verdict: Cork

Offaly v Tipperary, Fintan McNamara, St Brendan’s Park,Birr, 2:45

Another key game for Tipperary who could top group A, in the event that rivals Cork and Galway fail to collect wins this weekend. Super sub Noreen Flanagan was the hero of the hour last week, hitting two goals to secure the points. Offaly, on the other hand, suffered a heavy defeat and will be looking for a morale-boosting win.

Verdict: Tipperary

Galway v Wexford, Owen Elliott, Kenny Park, Athenry *Highlights on RTÉ The Sunday Game* 3:15

A key game for Galway, with a win cementing their place at the top of Group A and passage to the semi-finals. Wexford will be without the influential Mary Leacy who suffered knee ligament damage in last week’s win over Dublin, while Lisa Bolger is also absent with a hand injury. Galway, at home and in strong scoring form with Niamh Kilkenny excelling, will be difficult to stop.

Verdict: Galway
