- After a few disappointing days (on dry land at least) Ireland got a boxer back in the winner’s circle as Steven Donnelly defeated Mongolia’s Tuvshinbat Byamba to reach the quarter-finals in his weight class.
- The double sculls rowers were in great form again today. Sinead Lynch, Claire Lambe and the O’Donovan brothers took third place to earn a place in their respective Olympic finals.
- Good news in hockey too? What a day! Though we needed a dramatic late goal from Germany to keep our interest alive in this tournament.
