Waterford Crystal Cup semi-final
Tipperary 1-20
Limerick IT 2-12
Tipperary will face Clare in the final of the Waterford Crystal Cup next weekend after their semi-final victory today
Eamonn O’Shea’s Premier side defeated third-level outfit Limerick IT by five points earlier today in Dolla, the home of the Silvermines GAA club.
Davy Fitzgerald was managing LIT and was hoping to uniquely guide a second team into the final of this competition after his Clare side beat Cork by two points on Friday night.
But it was Tipperary who made all the early running and lead by 0-13 to 0-3 at the interval. LIT fought back with Clare’s Gary Guilfoyle finding the net twice in the second-half, from a penalty in the 51st minute and from play in the 67th minute.
That second goal cut the gap to only two points but Tipperary clinched victory when Éire Óg Nenagh attacker Michael Heffernan found the net late on.

Elsewhere today, Ardscoil Rís and Our Lady’s Templemore played out a 1-11 to 0-14 draw in the semi-final of the Dr Harty Cup in Nenagh.
Dungarvan Colleges had booked their place in the final with a win yesterday over Thurles CBS but the identity of their final opponents has not yet been revealed due to today’s draw.
The replay is set to take place next Saturday in Nenagh after a game today where Our Lady’s Templemore made the early running to lead by 0-9 to 0-4 at half-time. By the 40th minute mark they enjoyed a 0-11 to 0-5 advantage before Ardscoil Rís launched a fightback.
A goal from David Dempsey ignited the Ardscoil Rís revival and the 2011 champions had drawn level at 1-9 to 0-12 with ten minutes remaining before forging ahead approaching the final whistle.
Yet Colin O’Riordan, an All-Ireland minor football winner with Tipperary in 2011 and All-Ireland minor hurling winner with the county in 2012, rescued a draw for Our Lady’s when he shot over a last-gasp point, his fifth effort from play during the game.
Meanwhile in the All-Ireland senior club camogie semi-finals this afternoon, Cork side Milford defeated Wexford’s Oulart-the-Ballagh by 1-12 to 1-7 while Galway’s Killimor were 2-9 to 0-12 victors against Antrim’s O’Donovan Rossa. They will now meet in the final in Croke Park on March 2nd.
