Cork City boss John Caulfield slapped with his second ban of the season

Caulfield was dismissed in the closing stages of his side’s recent defeat to Dundalk at Oriel Park.

JOHN CAULFIELD WILL be absent from the touchline when Cork City return to domestic action.

The FAI confirmed today that the City manager has been handed a one-match suspension as a result of his dismissal in their recent 2-1 defeat to Dundalk.

Caulfield was given his marching orders at Oriel Park by referee Robert Harvey after Dundalk scored an injury-time winner via a Sean McLoughlin own goal.

Caulfield later explained that he had been ordered from the touchline due to leaving his technical area to protest to the linesman as he felt the goal should have been deemed offside.

The league-winning manager will subsequently be forced to watch from the stands in City’s next domestic game, which is currently scheduled to be a Premier Division meeting with Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday, 27 July.

City are currently focused on European matters. The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division champions will be in Poland on Tuesday, aiming to overturn a 1-0 deficit in the second leg of their Champions League first round qualifier against Legia Warsaw.

This is the second time this season that Caulfield has received a one-match ban. He was also punished back in April for entering the field to retrieve the ball as his side attempted to take a throw-in late in their 2-1 loss away to Waterford.
