Twitter is changing... but is it for the better?

Twitter want to use your information like who you follow and what you engage with to show you more Tweets.

TWITTER IS CHANGING, but only time will tell if you will actually like it?

Twitter said this evening that they are “exploring ways to surface relevant Tweets so the content that is interesting to you is easy to discover”.

Basically, just like Facebook, they are going to use information like who you follow and what you engage with to surface highlights of what you missed and show Tweets to you as soon as you log back in or come back to the app.

Timeline

It said it is also working on ideas such as an instant, personalised timeline for new users who don’t want to spend time cultivating one on their own.

These “product improvements” will  be coming online in the coming months.

The reasoning behind the change – Twitter says that what you see of the 500 million Tweets published every day is limited and is based entirely on who you follow.

It said that with that many Tweets every day, there’s no way even “the most avid Twitter user will find everything that’s relevant to their interests in any particular moment”.

Changes to Direct Messages are also on the way, with updates coming that will make it easy to take a public conversation private (which could be useful for all those Twitter spats).
