Tyrone 5-18
Cavan 2-17
TYRONE SET-UP a fascinating Ulster final clash with fellow heavyweights Donegal after breezing past Cavan in the semi-final replay.
Tyrone made it to their first provincial final since 2010 and they’ll meet Donegal in the Ulster decider for the first time since 1989.
Mickey Harte’s side put five goals past the Breffni men in a devastating attacking display, with his nephew Peter supplying a brace.
Harte’s two goals gave the Red Hand a 2-8 to 0-7 lead at half-time, before Connor McAliskey, Rory Brennan and Mark Bradley each raised the green flag after the interval.
Cian Mackey and Jack Brady scored consolation goals in the final quarter as Tyrone eased off the gas on the home straight.
Tyrone led by a point, 0-6 to 0-5, after 22 minutes before Harte’s quick-fire double put them in control. Cavan went 15 minutes in the first-half without a score, until Gearoid McKiernan ended that unwanted run with his second and third points of the match.
Sean Cavanagh set McAliskey up for Tyrone’s third goal soon after the restart and their fourth arrive on 50 minutes, when substitute Brennan, who was only on the field a matter of seconds, palmed into the net.
Terry Hyland’s side grabbed a consolation goal courtesy of Mackey on the hour mark and then Cavan substitute Jack Brady found the net with five minutes left on the clock.
But it was too little too late for the Breffni side, who have six days to turn things around against Carlow in the qualifiers.
