VIDEO: Here are the highlights of the Dáil and Seanad in 2012

The Oireachtas has put together these videos taking a look at some of the key moments from the Dáil and Seanad this year.

IT’S BEEN AN eventful year for the Houses of the Oireachtas.

On the one hand, the Seanad celebrated its 90th anniversary earlier this month and almost – almost – defeated a government bill. On the other, this could well be its final year of existence if next year’s much-hyped referendum on its future passes.

Separately, the Dáil saw heated debates around the issues of abortion and Budget 2013, while Leaders’ Questions was dominated throughout the year by petty squabbling between Enda Kenny and Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams.

The Oireachtas has put together these videos looking back at some of the key moments from the Dáil and the Seanad this year, including Jonathan O’Brien’s moving contribution to the abortion debate, Stephen Donnelly on cutting money to carers and Michael Noonan  delivering the Budget.
