KERRY’S PAUL GALVIN says that the County Board badly needs to invest in its football team or risk falling into the GAA doldrums.
Speaking on Setanta’s iTalkSport, the 32-year-old bemoaned the fact that no headquarters exists in the county where players from the under-12s to the senior team can gather.
He also insisted that money needs to be spent on coaching and fitness facilities.
“I think in Kerry there’s a need for investment in facilities, definitely,” he said.
“There’s no centre, or no headquarters where you can have a holistic approach and have under-12s, under-14s, under-16s, minors, under-21s and seniors together.
“There’s probably need for investment in coaches, and there’s also a need for investment in strength and conditioning. Even something like physiotherapy and injury rehab.
“I think there’s a need for a headquarters in Kerry football where all teams can work from.”
“He might have to go to our sponsors, Kerry Group, with cap in hand. I think there were plans in place that fell through but I think it’s certainly an issue that Kerry football need to look at.”
