VODAFONE HAS APOLOGISED to customers today after it mistakenly told thousands of customers that they had had money debited from their bank accounts, even though the money was not owed or taken.
Text messages and emails were sent by Vodafone thanking customers for making payments, despite no payments being made or money being debited.
In a statement today the country’s largest mobile phone operators said that the messages were sent “due to an error” with their customer notification process.
“We want to reassure our customers that the issue has been fully resolved and the notification did not reflect any payments made but was purely a customer communication error,” they said.
Vodafone apologised to customers for any confusion caused.
“We are currently reviewing our notifications processes and will take the necessary measures to ensure that this issue doesn’t arise for our customers in the future.”
