WOMEN’S TANDEM PAIRING Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan have won a silver medal in the Women’s Individual B Pursuit this afternoon, with a time of 3.36.360.

Walsh and Meehan ultimately lost out by four seconds in a gold medal ride off against New Zealand’s Phillipa Gray and Laura Thompson, who had claimed a World Record time of 3.31.530 earlier today.

“The team had a couple of fourths, so it was hard during the week,” said Walsh, delighted to have claimed silver: “We were able to finish off what we said we were going to do.”

In addition, Ireland’s Katie-George Dunlevy and Sandra Fitzgerald finished in a credible fifth place in their earlier race, with a time of 3.42.445.
