Watch: Paulo Di Canio fight with one of his own players

Swindon Town manager Paulo Di Canio became involved in a physical altercation with striker Leon Clarke after his side’s 3-1 loss to Southampton last night.

THERE WAS A great deal of skepticism expressed when Paulo Di Canio was appointed manager of League Two’s Swindon Town at the start of the summer.

Few believed the scandal-prone Italian would be capable of comporting himself in a manner befitting of a Football League manager, and after his side’s 3-1 loss to Southampton last night, even fewer will be inclined to vouch for the professionalism of the West Ham legend.

When Swindon striker Leon Clarke became involved in a heated argument with one of his team’s coaching staff as players and officials left the field at full-time, Di Canio arrived on the scene to defuse the situation. But as he attempted to manoeuvre Clarke down the tunnel with a blunt combination of flattery and undignified neck holding, the striker became increasingly irate.

Then, as the pair reached the comparative privacy of the tunnel, it all went off… in full view of the TV cameras.
