WATCH: Rooney and Ronnie hit pre-season hat-tricks

C-Ron burst the net in Madrid’s 3-0 win over Chivas Guadalajara last night. Literally.

WAYNE ROONEY AND Cristiano Ronaldo continued their pre-season preparations in style last night, both hitting hat-tricks as Manchester United and Real Madrid cruised to friendly victories.

United were in Washington for the next stop on their North American tour, handing out a 7-0 hammering to MLS side the Seattle Sounders in front of a crowd of over 67,000 .

Michael Owen opened the scoring after just 16 minutes, but his header remained the only goal between the sides until Mame Biram Diouf doubled United’s advantage four minutes after the break.

Rooney opened his account two minutes later, peeling away from his marker before firing the ball into the roof of the net.

The striker’s second – a neat finish from Park Ji-Sung’s assist on 69 minutes – sparked a goal-rush which saw Park get on the scoresheet himself and Rooney complete his hat-trick within the space of three minutes.

Gabriel Obertan completed the rout two minutes from time when he capitalised on some hesitant Seattle defending to bag United’s seventh of the evening.

Meanwhile, in San Diego, Cristiano Ronaldo took less than ten minutes to fire home the second-half treble which gave Real Madrid a 3-0 win over Mexican side Chivas Guadalajara.

The Portuguese superstar broke the deadlock in the 74th minute with a close-range finish before bursting the net with a firmly-struck penalty just three minutes later.

Ronaldo’s third of the evening was the pick of the bunch, gliding on to Mesut Ozil’s clever pull-back to fire low past Luis Michel in the 83rd minute.
