“THIS IS GONNA cost you” — five words that you never want to hear Alex Ferguson say.
Wayne Rooney may have landed himself in his manager’s bad books with a cheeky joke at Ferguson’s expense during the Manchester United Christmas quiz.
The striker teamed up with team-mates Jonny Evans and Ryan Giggs to take on Fergie and two members of the United backroom team, but struggled as he tried to act out “Bend It Like Beckham” during the charades round.
When Evans and Giggs failed to pick up on his initial clues, a desperate Rooney recreated one incident that they couldn’t mistake — the infamous dressing room rant where Ferguson is alleged to have kicked a boot which left Beckham needing stitches above his eye.
As the rest of the studio cracked up, the fiery Scot subdued a smile for long enough to tell Rooney that “this is gonna cost you.”
He was joking, I think. Wasn’t he?
