All-Ireland minor and colleges winners named in Waterford intermediate team to play Cork

The teams meet in the Munster quarter-final at 2pm next Sunday.

WATERFORD HAVE DRAFTED in All-Ireland minor and colleges winners to their intermediate hurling side to face Cork next Sunday.

The teams meet in the Munster quarter-final at 2pm in a game that is the curtain-raiser to the senior clash in Thurles.

Wing-forward Michael Harney played at wing-back last year on the county minor side that claimed a glorious victory in the All-Ireland final against Galway.

He also won an All-Ireland medal at colleges level last April on the Dungarvan Colleges team that won the Croke Cup and was joined on that side by full-forward Ryan Donnelly.

Midfielder Stephen Roche won a Fitzgibbon Cup medal this year with Waterford IT and is one of three players, along with corner-back Shane Roche and centre-back Kieran Power, that lined out for the Waterford U21 side last year.

Five members of the Passage side that claimed their first ever Waterford senior hurling crown in dramatic fashion last October are included here – full-back Mark Wyse, wing-back Jason Roche, midfielder Pa Walsh, wing-forward Killian Fitzgerald and corner-forward Tommy Connors.
