There's ANOTHER weather warning in place, this time for snow

The ice, frost and fog isn’t going anywhere in a hurry.

Updated: 18.10

MET ÉIREANN HAS issued a status yellow weather warning for snow and ice.

A band of rain and sleet is set to extend from the west this evening and tonight, turning to snow at times as it encounters colder air further east and north.

Snow deposits could reach up to 3cm in Ulster, north Leinster, and parts of east Connacht, particularly over high ground.

Eastern and northern areas will experience some frost and possibly ice. Later in the night, it will become drier and clearer in western counties, with temperatures falling around dawn and ice forming on untreated surfaces.

The warning will be in place until at least 11am tomorrow.

AA Roadwatch is advising people to take extra time to defrost their windscreen tomorrow morning and be prepared for poor visibility.

Not getting better

Met Éireann is forecasting another week of chilly conditions, with as much as 5cm of snow predicted to fall overnight on Tuesday. Temperatures in Ulster could fall to -7C in snowy areas.

It’s predicted that the temperatures might warm on Friday, but not before more snow on Wednesday and wintery showers at points throughout the week.

Snow angels, anyone?
