THE GOOD NEWS: It’s the weekend! The bad news: it’s going to rain so hard that Met Éireann has issued a weather warning.
Sorry.
The national meteorological service is warning about heavy rain on Saturday night and Sunday across Munster and Leinster, with coastal counties being hit the worst (Connacht and Ulster are set to escape the brunt of the drenching).
In a slightly unusual – and perhaps ominous – sentence, the yellow alert warning ends with the words “Details uncertain at present”.
Usually warning would have details about exactly how much rain is expected and whether there or not there is a risk of flooding.

So maybe you’re better off staying in this weekend. Clean your house. Write that email to your parents. Watch that boxset you’ve heard so much about.
Or, if you have to go outside, at least make sure you’ve got a good brolly.
