Offaly 0-13

GOALS FROM CONOR McDonald and Rhys Clarke in the first-half laid the foundations for Wexford’s progression to the Bord Gáis Energy Leinster U21 hurling final tonight.

The defending champions were far too strong for Offaly as they followed up their excellent quarter-final win over Kilkenny by having ten points to spare over the Faithful tonight at Wexford Park.

Both sides were reduced to fourteen men in the opening period with Garrett Foley (Wexford) and Sean Dolan (Offaly) both sent to the line.

Wexford lost Foley inside the opening ten minutes but they powered on despite that setback. McDonald’s goal ensured they were in front by 1-5 to 0-2 after the opening quarter.

Then Clarke grabbed their second goal to essentially kill the game off before half-time and ensure the Model County were 2-9 to 0-2 clear at the interval.

A series of points by Jack Guiney enabled Wexford to pull clear by 2-14 to 0-5 at the close of the third quarter and although Offaly retrieved the deficit in the closing stages, Wexford still ran out comfortable winners.
