THE WILLIAMS FORMULA 1 team has announced that chairman Adam Parr will leave the team at the end of the week.
Team principal Frank Williams simply stated that Parr wanted a “better balance in his life.”
“Williams Grand Prix Holdings PLC today announced that its Chairman Adam Parr has resigned from the Company,” read a team statement.
“Adam will leave Williams on Friday 30 March 2012.”
The news is particularly surprising, given that Williams himself had recently earmarked Parr as his most likely successor at the helm of the team he founded in 1977.
Williams said: “I asked Adam to join Williams at the end of 2006 to support me in the running of our team. Adam’s achievements have surpassed my expectations and I must thank him for his service.
“Adam leaves us on good terms to pursue a better balance in his life for which I wish him and his family well.
“He has left us in good shape and I have every confidence that the Board and senior management team at Williams will continue to drive the business forward into a promising future.”
After a miserable 2011 season, Williams have started the current campaign in far better condition. The Grove-based team – with Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna as race drivers – have comfortably finished inside the top ten in both Australia and Malaysia.
