Woman dies, and another injured, in separate Dublin fires

A 29-year-old woman dies in a fire in her apartment on Grenville St, while a 93-year-old is injured after a Donnybrook blaze.

A WOMAN IN HER TWENTIES has been killed, and another in her nineties injured, following two separate overnight house fires in Dublin.

The 29-year-old woman died after a fire broke out at her apartment on Grenville Street, off Mountjoy Square, in the early hours.

The alarm was raised shortly after 1:30am, but the woman could not be saved, and RTÉ reports that her body has been removed for a post-mortem exam.

In a separate incident, a 93-year-old woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition following a fire in Donnybrook, in the city’s southern suburbs.

The alarm was raised after neighbours spotted flames in the kitchen of her house on Nutley Avenue at around 11pm.

She was brought to St Vincent’s Hospital nearby, and remains in a serious condition this morning.
