Dublin women tied up and beaten after "meeting men on Facebook"

The girls had met the men on Facebook three weeks ago.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after two women were beaten by men they had met on Facebook.

The pair from Tallaght in Dublin told the Irish Independent that they begun speaking to the men three weeks ago and agreed to meet them on Thursday in Newbridge, County Kildare.

Gardaí are investigating after the pair say they were then falsely imprisoned and beaten by two men. The scene at Frances Lane was preserved and technically examined.

The sisters, identified as 21-year-old Amy Rice and her 19-year-old sister Nicole, told the Independent that they had their hair pulled, were pushed to the ground and kicked in the head.

They say they were then tied up with rags and beaten before both blacked out. Eventually they were freed, both having suffered severe head injuries.

The women received a lift on Friday afternoon from a man driving an orange coloured car in Newbridge to Tallaght Hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly the man who transported the injured women to Tallaght Hospital from Newbridge to contact them at Newbridge Garda Station on 045-440180, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
