You've got mail... and possibly a Euro 2012 match ticket if you're lucky

Check your inbox; European football’s governing body UEFA are starting to let people know if they’ve got a ticket.

IRISH SOCCER FANS hopeful of watching the Boys in Green in Poland this summer will learn today if their ticket applications have been successful.

European football governing body, UEFA, will begin contacting those that applied through their European Championships ticketing process.

Fans who have won the ticket lottery will be informed of the date by which they must pay while those who have missed out will be put on a waiting list. Those supporters will then be considered when the release of the additional 2,300 tickets secured for Irish fans commences in the coming weeks, the FAI says.

“I am happy that we have been able to secure 2,300 additional tickets so far for Irish supporters and thank UEFA for assisting us,” Abbotstown chief, John Delaney said today.

“We will continue to work closely with UEFA to secure any additional tickets that become available, we are also awaiting final confirmation of substantial extra tickets for the Italy game as they have not taken up their full allocation. UEFA EURO 2012 is generating real excitement throughout the country and while it will not be possible for every fan to attend, we will continue to work hard to secure the maximum number of tickets possible,” he added.

Ireland have been drawn in Group C along with world and European champions Spain, Giovanni Trapattoni’s homeland of Italy and Slaven Bilic’s Croatia.

The UEFA sales portal is now closed but all supporters can still apply through the UEFA European Re-sale system which redistributes tickets based on availability of returns.
