Kilkenny to begin 2016 championship campaign against Wexford or Dublin

DUBLIN AND WEXFORD will meet in the quarter-finals of the 2016 Leinster senior hurling championship, and the prize for the winners will be a semi-final clash with reigning Leinster and All-Ireland champions Kilkenny.

The draws for next year’s championships were made this evening on RTÉ, with this year’s beaten finalists Galway set to play the winners of the Leinster qualifier group in their opener.

In Munster, Tipperary will begin the defence of their provincial crown with a quarter-final clash against old rivals Cork, with Limerick awaiting the winners in the semi-finals. The other semi-final will see Waterford take on Clare.

2016 Leinster SHC draw

Qualifier group: Offaly, Westmeath, Carlow, Kerry

Quarter-finals: Dublin vs. Wexford; Group winner vs. Galway; Group runner-up vs. Laois

Semi-finals: Kilkenny vs. Dublin/Wexford; Group winner/Galway vs. Group runner-up/Laois

Quarter-final: Tipperary vs. Cork

Semi-finals: Tipperary/Cork vs. Limerick; Waterford vs Clare
